'Consult a solicitor' when making a will
People planning on making a will have been advised to consult a solicitor to make sure the process is carried out correctly.
The South Wales Echo advised a reader whose parents are in their 80s and do not yet have wills drawn up to ensure that they do so as quickly as possible, seeking out the help of a professional to make sure everything is legal and valid.
It noted that some homemade wills can be declared invalid due to a lack of signatures or the use of "unsuitable witnesses" and suggested that a legal professional may be the best port of call for those who do not know where to begin.
"I would advise everyone, regardless of their age, to make a will so all your wishes can be carried out after you have passed away," wrote George, the paper's agony uncle.
He added that having the appropriate documents in place makes things "a lot easier" for the people who are taking care of the estate during what is often "a very emotional time".
Earlier this month, a number of advisers interviewed by Kate Hughes of the Independent for the newspaper's Health Check section noted that making a will is a "matter of urgency" for adults of all ages.
