The Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) has conducted research which reveals some of the uninsured driving hotspots in the UK.

And according to the organisation, some progress has been made with regards to tackling this problem nationwide.

It found that Barkerend in Bradford is top of the charts for the thirteenth year in a row for this offence, while West Gorton in Manchester came in second place.

Elsewhere, the remaining three positions in the top five were filled by locations in Birmingham - Saltley, Small Heath and Handsworth.

Broadly speaking, the number of uninsured vehicles on UK roads has fallen by 20 per cent in the last four years, dropping from 1.8 million to 1.5 million.

Ashton West, chief executive of the group, stated: "The level of seizures and criminal convictions demonstrates that uninsured drivers are consistently being caught and removed from the road. But more drivers need to buy a policy to cover them on the road."

According to the MIB, about 900,000 drivers under the age of 30 have no motor insurance.ADNFCR-2353-ID-19903636-ADNFCR
