Angina attack victim disputes parking ticket

News-no-image-original

A man who suffered an angina attack while driving and had to pull over as a result has spoken out against a parking ticket he received.

Alwyn Thorpe pulled into Smyth Street car park in Wakefield and waited for an hour for his wife to come to his assistance, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.

The 58-year-old has to take medication immediately when he feels he is about to experience an attack of angina - which is a syndrome caused when the supply of oxygen-rich blood to the heart becomes restricted.

He remarked: "I was in pain, gasping for breath. It never crossed my mind to get a ticket. I just needed to get off the road."

Mr Thorpe explained his situation to Excel Parking Services, but has not been let off and has been informed that if he fails to pay the fine it will increase from £60 to £100.
