Aston Villa and Martin O'Neill set for employment tribunal

A contractual dispute between Aston Villa Football Club and former manager Martin O'Neill will be resolved by a tribunal, the League Managers' Association (LMA) has revealed.
According to the organisation, which was established in 1992 and exists to represent the managers of all 92 professional football league clubs across the nation, a period of mediation has not resulted in the two parties coming to a settlement, meaning that a case heard by the Premier League Managers' Arbitration Tribunal is now necessary.
"The tribunal is ideally placed to resolve disputes of this nature, combining the skills and experience of prominent individuals from football and the law," said the LMA in an official statement.
O'Neill, who has also managed clubs such as Celtic in his career, left Aston Villa shortly before the start of the 2010-11 Barclays Premier League campaign.
The former Northern Ireland international is also currently in a legal battle with Mirror Group over alleged libellous articles printed by the media organisation last year.
