Attitudes towards working mothers 'have improved'
Attitudes towards working mothers have changed for the better, it has been claimed.
According to Tatjana Hine, president of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs (BAWE), firms are more flexible than they used to be.
She said: "People are obviously more flexible, we try and be more flexible in regards to our time regarding children and that I think is vital.
"It is very important because we understand how difficult it is."
On April 6th of this year, the rules regarding flexible working changed.
Now, people with parental responsibility for children aged 16 and under are able to request better working patterns.
However, in order to qualify for the right to request flexible working, employees must fulfil a number of criteria.
For example, they must have worked continuously for at least 26 weeks on the date they make their request and must not have made another statutory request during the past 12 months.
