Banks still giving "poor customer service and shoddy sales tactics"
A year since the bailout of UK banks by the government, customers are still subject to bad treatment, it has been claimed.
Research conducted by consumer group Which? has found that there is still widespread consumer resentment against such financial services providers.
Head of campaigns at the organisation Louise Hanson said: "Banks are still treating them like second class citizens with poor customer service and shoddy sales tactics."
She added that "consumers are wary of what the banks say".
According to the Which? survey, three-quarters of consumers believe that financial service providers are not sorry for causing the credit crunch, while three in five do not think such organisations have learnt the necessary lessons.
In addition, four-fifths of respondents thought senior bankers have got away without having to pay for their mistakes.
Recently, a deal was struck between banks and the Office of Fair Trading under which consumers will have access to more transparent and reliable information concerning their current accounts.
