Britons 'becoming more worried about finances'
Posted by Emily Swanson
Britons were more concerned about their personal finance situation in 2011 than they were one year earlier, new research has shown.
According to a study conducted by first direct, 48 per cent of all individuals across the UK are currently unhappy with regard to their finances - a figure some 12 per cent higher than the 36 per cent recorded in 2010.
Meanwhile, the most significant single worry among the population was the fact they has not saved enough - 52 per cent stated this to be the case - with a failure to pay off debt also figuring highly on individuals' regrets.
Bruno Genovese, head of savings at first direct, observed: "January is the perfect time to get your finances in order and start 2012 as you mean to go on."
This comes after the Samaritans recently revealed that 58 per cent of people in the UK believe they will not be able to live comfortably this year.
