Broadband users 'not having problems resolved'
Over half of all complaints from broadband users are not being successfully resolved by internet service providers (ISPs).
This is according to new research from Broadbandchoices.co.uk, which found that 54 per cent of consumers are not having their issues dealt with in a satisfactory manner.
Of the 4,000 customers surveyed, 47 per cent said that they were unaware there is a Complaint Code of Practice that exists to help solve problems with ISPs, while a further 77 per cent did not know that they could use the Alternative Dispute Resolution scheme if their issue had not been addressed within eight weeks of contacting their provider.
In addition to this, 36 per cent have not submitted a complaint, despite the fact that they are not completely happy with the quality of their broadband service.
Product director at Broadbandchoices.co.uk Michael Phillips observed that there is a "distinct lack of awareness" among consumers regarding what they can do if they make a complaint.
Last month, a number of ISPs suggested that plans to cut internet connections for those illegally downloading media would harm consumer rights.
