BSA: People looking to buy houses in 2011
Posted by Richard Saunders
Many people looking to buy a new house in the near future may be set to do so in 2011, if new research is anything to go by.
According to the December 2010 issue of the Building Societies Association's (BSA) Property Tracker survey, a large proportion of the British public feel that the next 12 months will represent the ideal opportunity for them to enter the residential property market.
Indeed, despite the fact that the BSA feels "considerable uncertainty" remains in the sector following the worldwide economic slump, some 43 per cent of the population indicted that they felt it was currently a good time to buy a house.
However, Paul Broadhead, head of mortgage policy at the BSA, warned that "barriers remain", due to the fact that "worries persist about job security", as well as there being concerns about the likelihood that banks will readily provide mortgages.
This comes after the Council of Mortgage Lenders recently revealed that the number of approved home credit deals dropped in October.
