Calls made for new measures to tackle rogue landlords

Ylr-news-19397860

The charity Crisis has joined forces with the National Landlords Association (NLA) to call for new measures to tackle rogue operators in the industry.

According to the organisations, a fresh vision should be delivered focussing on encouraging growth and professional standards.

As such, it has called on the Conservative party to deliver a new plan.

Today (October 7th), the Tories are set to launch a report entitled New Directions for Renting: A New Vision for the Private-Rented Sector, which urges policymakers to offer a wider range of housing options and increased access to accommodation.

NLA chairman David Salusbury is due to speak at the launch, which is taking place as part of the Conservative's annual party conference in Manchester.

He commented: "We know that most landlords are professional, business-orientated individuals, but we also know that a small minority of rogue operators continue to bring the entire sector into disrepute."

The NLA is "determined" to expose bad practice and offer support and advice to industry operators concerning how to make a success of letting residential property, Mr Salusbury added.
