Car insurance costs 'vary across the country'
The cost of securing car insurance varies depending on what area of the country motorists reside in, new figures show.
Produced by moneysupermarket.com, the research reveals that Truro in Cornwall is the cheapest place to have policies registered for.
Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and Penzance in Cornwall also featured in the top ten.
However, it was Scotland that had the most places with cheap cover. Seven of the least expensive areas in the UK for car insurance were located in the country.
In contrast, moneysupermarket.com - which provides information on products such as mobile phone services and utility bills, as well as insurance - found that cities including Manchester and Birmingham were most expensive for vehicle cover.
Steve Sweeney, head of motor insurance at the price comparison site, said: "Of course it's no surprise to see urban hotspots ... topping the chart for the most expensive postcodes, where motorists could see the cost of their cover double."
