Compensation received for personal injury case

A man severely injured in a motoring accident in 1995 that killed his friend, cousin and aunt when the car they were in collided with a skip lorry has been awarded a "substantial" amount in compensation.
Nicholas Butler, now 23 and living in Exeter, was left with brain damage as a result and, although the amount of the settlement has not been disclosed, it will be presented as a lump sum, alongside tax-free, index-linked annual payments to cover costs of his care, the Bucks Free Press reports.
Mrs Justice Swift, approving the amount, called Mr Butler's condition "very distressing and difficult", adding that he will require "careful management" for the rest of his life.
"This … will go some way to enabling him to have the level of care he undoubtedly requires," she remarked.
This comes after Chrissie Johnson received over £17.5 million in compensation following a car accident in 2006 that left her with severe brain damage.
