Consumers 'may skimp on car maintenance'
Posted by Mark Cunningham
Motorists may be skimping on their level of car maintenance.
According to AA Financial Services, because of financial pressures being faced by many Britons at present, people are less inclined to take their vehicles to be checked.
A survey conducted by the firm revealed that one in five respondents intended to wait for longer between services in order to save money.
In addition, 51 per cent revealed they are likely to use their cars less.
It also noted that there may be some good deals available for those looking to buy a vehicle.
More than half (56 per cent) of AA members polled said the recession will make them less likely to buy a new motor - meaning dealers may be forced to launch offers.
Director of AA Financial Services Mark Huggins said: "It's not just cutting back on motoring spend, which accounts for perhaps the biggest chunk of most families' domestic budget - this caution is extending into all areas of life."
Consumers have been reigning in their outgoings since the onset of the credit crunch in 2007.
