Consumers 'must plan ahead financially for holidays'
Posted by Emily Swanson
Preparation before leaving home is key for Britons eager to avoid unexpected costs while away on a short break.
That is the opinion of Amanda Lamb, speaking on behalf of MasterCard Prepaid, who has urged individuals to plan ahead when it comes to spending while they are abroad, not just in terms of getting a cheap deal on flights or hotels prior to travelling.
For instance, the expert stated that a family of four may spend a needless additional £30-£40 by each purchasing food and drinks aboard the plane on the way to their destination, which then undoes the good work of booking with a budget airline.
A study published last week (August 24th) by MasterCard Prepaid revealed that many people will have spent as much over the recent bank holiday weekend alone as they did on their main summer holiday.
Ms Lamb went on to note that many individuals fail to consider "hidden extras" when it comes to budgeting for a break.
