Consumers set to witness landline price hikes

Ylr-news-800018394

TalkTalk is set to increase prices for landline calls, following a similar move made by BT.

And according to Ernest Doku, communications expert at uSwitch.com, this decision could have a transformative affect on consumers and businesses looking to reduce their expenditure in this area.

He noted that it is the second price rise from the firm in 2010 "and may not be the last".

Mr Doku added: "It is more important than ever for consumers to shop around and find a home phone tariff that suits them and will keep costs down."

From October 1st, line rental prices will increase from £11.49 to £12.04 per month, with daytime rents rising from 5.8p to 6.4p.

The news may have caught the attention of individuals who rely on affordable forms of communication for their personal or business activity.

Moreover, consumers may want to consider the merits of voice over internet protocol technology, which may provide a low-cost way of making international calls.
