Consumers 'should investigate all the options when buying a house'

Ylr-news-800060913

When searching for the right property deal, consumers should analyse a range of different options available, according to an expert.

Richard Wilson at Ashley & Peck in Brentwood said that many purchasers are unaware of certain hidden costs that do not become apparent until a transaction has been completed.

"When negotiating a purchase, make sure you know what is included in the price," he commented.

Mr Wilson also stated: "A lot of people forget or don't budget for costs such as stamp duty, as they aren’t sure where the thresholds are."

Also, the representative highlighted the fact that curtains and carpets are sometimes included in the costs.

In addition, it could be a good idea to speak with an independent adviser about mortgage matters.

Meanwhile, Saga Personal Finance recently revealed that 34 per cent of Britons over the age of 50 claim that their house is in need of repair.
