Could warm weather crank up home insurance demand?
Now would be a good time for homeowners to ensure they have sufficient security measures in place for the summer months, it has been suggested.
This is because the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has issued a warning about the expected spate of crimes during warm weather - which is considered to be a common trend at this time of year.
It gave some tips for those looking to put protective measures in place - for instance, property owners should leave windows and doors shut, while any ladders in the garden should be kept out of sight.
Commenting on the tips, Nick Starling, director of general insurance and health for the ABI, said that "a few simple precautions will ensure that you do not become a victim of summer thieves".
He went on to add: "Insurance can of course provide financial compensation, but it cannot compensate for the trauma of a burglary."
Meanwhile, the Motor Insurers' Bureau recently revealed that almost half of the worst offending areas for uninsured driving are in the West Midlands.
