Couple seek compensation over holiday
A couple who paid for a holiday to Cuba which they described as a "nightmare" are to sue the travel firm involved.
Kyle McGrory and Amie Harvey claim that food provided at the Playa Pesquero hotel - which is located on the edge of its namesake beach - was responsible for gastric problems that they suffered, the Yorkshire Post reports.
The pair, who are both 22 years old, had to be flown back to the UK a week early due to their illness.
Their trip also coincided with Hurricane Ike, which caused damage in the region.
Commenting on the facilities, Mr McGrory said: "The running water and air-conditioning no longer worked. The toilets were disgusting. The restaurants were closed and the buffet was using reheated old food from the previous day."
He added that birds and cats were getting to the food and bread.
The couple are now planning to take legal action against Thomas Cook.
A spokesperson for the firm said it was undertaking a full inquiry.
