Demand for rental properties 'on the up'

Prospective tenants searching for rental properties are likely to find it tough to find an attractive deal at present.

That is if comments made by James Davis, chief executive officer of online resource Upad are anything to go by, as he believes there is currently a "national shortage" of accommodation for lease across the country, particularly in London.

Mr Davis explained that there is a growing level of demand for such homes in the wake of the global economic downturn, as people perceive renting as a more cost-effective option than attempting to purchase a property.

Indeed, Helen Adams of First Rung Now stated recently that the size of deposits demanded on abodes is rising rapidly in the UK after the recession.

And Mr Davis noted this trend is "of course driving up rent" as well as competition, meaning individuals are unlikely to have it easy when trying to find somewhere to lease.ADNFCR-2353-ID-800738320-ADNFCR
