Disgruntled holidaymaker succeeds in getting payout
A holidaymaker who was dissatisfied with his vacation has succeeded in his battle to secure compensation.
Andy Sharman travelled with his girlfriend, Taryn Capewel, to Tunisia in March, paying £900 for their travel and accommodation.
The couple complained about their stay, saying the bedroom they were placed in was dirty, drinks at the resort were over-priced and staff were rude.
In a bid to pressure holiday operators Thomson - which was established over 40 years ago and claims to have access to more than 65,000 hotels, apartments and villas - to pay up, Mr Sharman set up a 'Rant Blog'.
It became so popular that it topped the Google rankings for the words 'Thomson Tunisia review'.
When Mr Sharman contacted the firm to inform it of his internet campaign, it offered him £595 in compensation.
He commented: "If someone is trying to complain and they find themselves up against a brick wall, I'd definitely advise setting up a blog," the Daily Mail reports.
