Disputes between neighbours 'on the rise in Cambridgeshire'
Posted by Emily Jones
The number of disputes between neighbours in Cambridgeshire has increased, it has been revealed.
According to a report in the Cambridge News, a rise of 50 per cent has occurred over the last four years.
It cited figures suggesting that police dealt with 4,500 disagreements between people living in close proximity to one another in the first 11 months of last year, compared with 3,000 in 2005.
Chief Inspector Dave Sergeant of Cambridgeshire Constabulary - which employs around 1,400 officers - said he deals with a range of arguments between neighbours.
He added: "Probably the figures have risen because of the work we have done as part of the policing pledge, telling people they can come to the police for help in resolving disputes."
Among the complaints dealt with by the constabulary was one involving a bin being put on someone else's path, while other more serious cases incorporated harassment.
