Driver takes legal action against council
Posted by Mark Cunningham
A driver who received a parking ticket is taking legal action against his local authority.
Chris Bragg was censured for parking in a restricted zone but is arguing that the area was insufficiently signed.
His legal team has discovered that issues regarding the signage in Crediton Town Square had already been discussed by Devon County Council.
As a result, Mr Bragg believes that if his case succeeds, other people who have received similar fines may be entitled to get their money back.
Speaking to the Express and Echo, he commented: "It is the principle of the thing - I have a totally clean driving licence and have never broken the law. I am determined to fight this."
Mr Bragg said the sign outlining the parking restrictions was positioned on a temporary wooden hoarding, rather than "clearly marked" on the road.
This comes after Devon County Council was recognised for its traffic management and enforcement capabilities with a nomination at the 2010 National Transport Awards.
