Drivers issued reminder of new insurance law
Posted by Mark Cunningham
Motorists have been reminded about the importance of complying with new insurance legislation set to be implemented in the UK later this year.
The Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance is to introduce a new law that will make it compulsory for all vehicles to be insured unless the owner told has told the relevant authorities that it will be kept off the road.
This means that the registered keeper of any car without a Statutory Off Road Notification must be covered by vehicle insurance under law and failure to comply with this term will result in them being penalised.
As a result, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has teamed up with the British Insurance Brokers' Association and the Motor Insurers Bureau to issue a reminder to all drivers about the need to comply.
David Evans, corporate affairs director at the DVLA, commented: "It is vitally important that motorists understand the change and how it will impact on them."
