Employee fired for HIV status

A care worker has discussed how he lost his job after disclosing his HIV status to his employers when a former partner threatened to tell his bosses of his medical state.
Scott Pierre-Donnelly, 35, had been working with young adults with autism in 2003 but revealed to the Metro that after informing his company of his condition, he was suspended while on holiday and later dismissed.
"I went to an employment tribunal in 2004 and won the case a year later at the Court of Appeal, " he explained, ahead of this year's World Aids Day, an annual event taking place today (December 1st) to raise awareness of Aids and HIV.
