Employees should take staff health and wellbeing into account, expert says
Posted by Emily Jones
Businesses should ensure their staff are given adequate resources to enhance their health and wellbeing, it has been suggested.
Rachel Krys, campaign director at the Employers Forum on Age, asserted that a more positive attitude towards the implications of an ageing workforce should be promoted.
She said it is important for businesses to take responsibility in terms of how they "engage employees and continually develop them".
Ms Krys went on to add: "That way we can get rid of this idea that an ageing workforce is going to be a problem - work is good for people."
In this manner, promoting staff engagement for the long-term could be an effective way of ensuring positive relations between employees and employers are maintained.
Age UK recently highlighted figures from the Office for National Statistics which showed that the amount of people in the later stages of their life will reach 16 million by 2031.
