Employers 'should offer staff flexible working options'
Posted by Craig Williams
Employers should consider the possibility of offering their members of staff the opportunity to request flexible working practices following the recession.
That is the opinion of Dr Ken Beaumont, principal consultant and manager at Workforce Logistics, who has said that giving more people the chance to access flexible working would make a significant difference to their lives through helping reduce their stress levels.
Dr Beaumont noted that "even very small changes are welcomed by employees", meaning that gestures such as allowing individuals to "get to work around a start time" could be an effective method.
This comes after the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development said recently that employees should be given the right to request flexible working.
The Workforce Logistics official added that "good employers" will permit this as long as it has no negative impact on their business, as they should recognise the potential benefits of doing so.
