Employment sector 'will see skills shortages in 2012'
Posted by Emily Swanson
Britain's employment sector will face a wide range of skills shortages in 2012 as the country steps up its economic recovery following the recession.
That is the opinion of Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, who has warned that ability gaps will come to the fore across the UK over the next 12 months or so.
Mr Green explained that the nation is yet to "fundamentally tackle" the issue of getting the younger generation to have the "right type of skills and employability" for the 21st-century professional environment.
However, he noted that this may change due to the fact that the economy is likely to strengthen significantly next year, while action will also be needed as the population continues to age.
Recent research by the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals showed that pension schemes are the most common employee benefit initiative offered to workers in the UK.
