Expert advises unhappy couples to consider collaborative divorce
Posted by Craig Williams
Married couples who have taken the decision to get divorced may wish to opt to do so through a new method.
Collaborative divorce represents the newest way in which family disputes can be resolved and involves a situation where solicitors for both parties seek to use co-operation as a way of bringing the matter to a close as opposed to beginning litigation and arguing over rights in court.
Essentially, an agreement to take this route means that no litigation will take place during a divorce and Christina Tait - spokeswoman for Divorce Aid, an independent advice resource - has said that it may be an attractive option for some.
Ms Tait noted that the method is "proving to be a very good way forward" for people able to afford it, as the route is designed to avoid the necessity of taking a case to court.
She added that "thousands of families each year" could benefit from collaborative divorce.
