Taking the time to compose a full and proper will prior to passing away is something that everyone should do, a legal expert has said.

According to Desmond Hudson - chief executive of the Law Society, which represents solicitors across all sectors in England and Wales - being able to properly discuss options for a last will and testament with a professional in the field is "priceless".

Mr Hudson explained that this process will ensure that "your wishes are expressed in a way that does not cause problems for your family and friends after your death".

"A poorly drafted will may have no legal meaning and can cause anguish for relatives," he added.

The Law Society official went on to say that making a will is "particularly important" for those who are not married to their partner, as otherwise a living partner will not receive anything without making a claim to the courts.
