Social media can help all companies develop and grow in the aftermath of the recession, an expert believes.

Tim Gibbon, director at communications consultancy Elemental, feels that websites such as Facebook, Google+ and Twitter offer firms opportunities on "quite a few different levels".

Mr Gibbon explained these portals give organisations the chance to "build a stronger rapport with customers" while also defining or enhancing their marketing and promotional strategies.

Recently, Edward Saatchi, co-founder of NationalField, noted that email is starting to get phased out in many workplaces as businesses instead use social media as their primary communication tool.

And Mr Gibbon went on to state that when the platforms are used "properly and in unison", they can be "extremely valuable assets" for firms as they enable them to "seamlessly" incorporate different parts of their organisation.

For instance, the Elemental official indicated companies can reach their stakeholders and customers directly through this medium.  ADNFCR-2353-ID-801217668-ADNFCR
