Expert: Spending Christmas abroad can relieve festive stress
Posted by Chris Stevenson
Britons eager to avoid the stress and strain of Christmas may be well advised to head abroad for the festive season this year, an expert believes.
Psychologist Cliff Arnell is of the opinion that getting away from the traditional hustle and bustle of this time of year in the UK could be a great idea for anyone dreading the pressure associated with Christmas.
Research published last week (November 17th) by new Thai luxury resort Conrad Koh Samui established that more than 80 per cent of people in Britain feel it takes them a month to recover from the stress of the December festivities.
And with this in mind, Mr Arnell indicated that spending December 25th in sunnier climes could help individuals get away from the "materialistic and competitive" nature of the holiday season.
"A winter holiday is good for the soul. It is something refreshing, different and a real opportunity to let go of the performance element of Christmas," he added.
