Expert welcomes government's fuel duty cut
Posted by Craig Williams
Motorists across the UK are set to benefit from the government's decision to reduce fuel duty, an expert has said.
During his latest budget speech given at the House of Commons earlier today (March 23rd 2011), chancellor George Osborne revealed that as part of its monetary plans for the coming months, the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance will be implementing a cut of one pence in fuel duty.
This means that the coalition has replaced the budget fuel duty system introduced two years ago by the previous administration with a modernised initiative which is related to North Sea oil production.
Edmund King, president of the AA, has spoken of his support for this measure as it will provide a "much needed tourniquet to drivers haemorrhaging money from record pump prices".
Mr King went on to say that the "action has probably stopped a 'summer of discontent' and is a common sense move".
