Expert welcomes new car insurance fraud taskforce

Motorists across the UK will benefit from the implementation of a new specialist taskforce aimed at combating the problem of car insurance fraud.

That is the opinion of Simon Douglas, insurance director at the AA, who has said that the official announcement given earlier this week (July 12th) by the City of London Police is a positive step for all honest road users.

Under plans unveiled by the body, some 35 professionals will make up the new unit and it is hoped that this organisation will help tackle the growing issue of dishonesty in the insurance industry.

And Mr Douglas has welcomed this as it will eventually bring down the cost of premiums for motorists after initially having a positive impact on "people's appetite to commit insurance fraud".

This comes after Andrew Hagger of Moneynet commented that many Britons are lying in order to get cheaper car insurance.
