Family seek compensation for holiday problems

Parents who say their children suffered sickness because of the lack of hygiene at a resort they were staying at in Turkey are taking legal action against their tour operator.

Suzanne and David Knighton travelled to the country with their 13 and eight-year-old sons Shane and Kieron, the Sunday Mercury reports.

While there, the boys were struck down by gastroenteritis - a common stomach and bowel infection that the NHS suggests affects around one in five English people each year.

According to the family, since they returned home, Kieron has continued to suffer from medical problems.

He has been diagnosed with cryptosporidium, which is a form of parasite.

Ms Knighton said: "We were on an all inclusive holiday and everything we ate and drank was from the hotel. There was nowhere else that Kieron could have picked up this parasite."

They are suing First Choice, which denies liability in the case.
