Family takes legal action over holiday illness
A family is taking legal action after suffering sickness while on holiday in Turkey.
Robert and Diane Parker were staying with their two daughters, Megan and Ruby, in the Holiday Village in Sarigerme when the youngsters were struck down with salmonella, South Yorkshire paper the Star reports.
Megan was worst affected by the bug - which is a form of food poisoning and is the second most common type of gastrointestinal illness in Britain.
The 11-year-old lost three-quarters of a stone and suffered swollen ankles. She had to be taken to hospital on her return to the UK.
According to Ms Parker, tour operator First Choice has not responded to their letter of complaint and the family is now seeking compensation.
She said: "It was the week before Megan was meant to start her first year at Dinnington Comprehensive - and the doctors told her she wouldn't be able to do all the things she loved."
