Family want to be compensated for holiday nightmare
Posted by Mark Cunningham
A family from Groby are seeking compensation from tour operator Thomson over a holiday during which they suffered from sickness.
Lisa and Kelvyn Price were on a cruise ship with their two children when there was an outbreak of norovirus, the Leicester Mercury reports.
Also called the winter vomiting disease, the bug is a cause of gastroenteritis and it can be spread through contact with an infected person or with surfaces and objects that have been contaminated. It can also be caught through food and water.
Commenting on their ordeal, Ms Price stated: "There was water coming in through the ceilings everywhere. I've never experienced a holiday like it in my life."
Thomson has said an investigation into the claims is being undertaken.
A spokeswoman for the firm added that it was "genuinely concerned" by reports of the illness, going on to note that it closely monitors safety and hygiene on its vessels.
