Firm issues vehicle purchase warning

Ylr-news-19236388

Vehicle retailing firm Carcraft has issued a warning to consumers concerning the purchasing of cars.

According to the organisation, criminal gangs are using well-known online retail websites to advertise what appear to be good cars for reasonable prices when in fact the vehicles do not exist.

Once people agree to purchase the cars, they are redirected to another site that offers to securely hold their money while the vehicles are being shipped.

However, the car never arrives and the consumers who were attempting to buy them are left out of pocket.

Commenting on such scams, Julia Phillips, group marketing director at Carcraft, said: "If it's a deal that seems too good to be true then unfortunately it probably is.

"Alarm bells should also start ringing if the ad is littered with spelling mistakes or the phone number shown only offers a recorded answer machine."

With roots tracing back to 1951, Carcraft operates ten car supermarkets and claims to sell around one vehicle every ten minutes.
