The government has announced its decision to accept several of the proposed changes to its health and social care legislation put forward by the NHS Future Forum.

Earlier this month, David Cameron announced that the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance would be implementing numerous reforms to the NHS in order to "save" the system.

However, many of the prime minister's measures were widely unpopular with professionals in the industry, which prompted the administration to back track and alter its proposals.

And health secretary Andrew Lansley has now confirmed that the government will listen to the requests and recommendations of workers in the healthcare sector.

"This has been a genuine exercise and it is clear from our response that substantial changes have been made in the interests of patients," he added.

Recently, Dr Hamish Meldrum of the British Medical Association stated it is "refreshing" to see the government working with the Future Forum.
