Govt 'could take measures to create jobs'

A greater number of employment opportunities could be created in the UK if the government took more measures to help smaller companies, a leading business group has stated.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has published its latest Voice of Small Business Index which revealed that confidence among such organisations dipped sharply in the third quarter of the year due to a number of factors.

In the view of many managers, the British economy is in a bad state following the recession because of issues such as increasing costs and weaker demand from consumers.

And with this in mind, the FSB has urged the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance to make more effort in order to improve conditions for smaller companies to thrive in and drive the economic recovery.

For instance, 11 per cent of bosses indicated that an extension of the National Insurance contribution holiday would encourage them to recruit more staff members.

This comes after Vincent Wong of The Work Foundation said managers should emphasise the values of their firm to enhance the atmosphere in a workplace.  ADNFCR-2353-ID-800762166-ADNFCR
