Drivers are set to benefit from several legislative changes due to come into force in the near future, it has emerged.
Transport secretary Justine Greening has today (December 15th) unveiled a raft of changes to the law that have been designed specifically to reduce the amount of red tape faced by UK motorists at present.
For instance, following the Road Transport Red Tape Challenge, people will no longer be required to hold a paper version of their license by 2015 - a change that is expected to save drivers as much as £8 million.
In addition, the regulation surrounding the Statutory Off Road Notification process will be enhanced so motorists will not have to complete annual renewals.
These are just two of the 142 clauses set to be scrapped or improved and Ms Greening - who is also MP for Putney, Roehampton and Southfields - commented: "Reducing the number of rules and regulations in our life is absolutely vital to removing barriers to economic growth and increasing individual freedoms."
