Holidaymakers heading to South Africa offered tips
Posted by Mark Cunningham
Thousands of people are set to make the trip from the UK to South Africa for this year's World Cup.
According to figures cited by AXA, around 20,000 England fans will head to the country to catch the games - which begin on June 11th and finish exactly a month later.
The firm recommended that holidaymakers keep the belongings they take to a minimum, particularly valuables.
Also, only small amounts of cash should be taken, it noted.
Those who opt to take valuables on the trip should ensure they are stored in hand luggage, as opposed to being put in suitcases destined for the holds of aircraft, AXA advised.
Meanwhile, consumers planning to do other activities as well as watching matches should make sure they are covered under the terms of their insurance policies, it added.
Alison Patrick, head of travel at the organisation, said: "We don't want to ruin anyone's fun while they're at the World Cup but it is really important people understand the risks and that they mitigate those risks."
