Holidaymakers seek compensation after suffering sickness
A group of holidaymakers from the UK who experienced health problems while on vacation in Jamaica are seeking compensation.
They stayed at the Starfish Trelawney Hotel in the country earlier this year, This is Wiltshire.co.uk reports.
According to their legal representative, they are not the first group to make complaints about the resort, with similar concerns being raised in 2006.
The tourists were struck down with gastric sickness while at the hotel and cite hygiene lapses as the cause.
They allege that the swimming pool was not clean and food was served that was not fully cooked, among other problems.
One of those involved in the legal action is Amanda Ellis. She said: "As a nurse I'm well aware of what are acceptable levels of hygiene and at no point did I see anything approaching that while in Jamaica."
The companies facing the compensation claims are Airtours and Direct Holiday, which was established in 1991.
