Home sellers 'setting higher asking prices'

People looking to sell their home are now setting higher asking prices than in recent months, an expert has said.

According to David Amstell, founder of online resource Briffy, factors such as annual seasonal variations as well as the better weather being experienced by much of the country have resulted in the cost of residential properties climbing.

Mr Amstell noted that every year, activity in the housing market picks up following the "doom and gloom of winter" and 2011 is proving no different.

"The weather has got a bit better and it is historically a time for property to start moving again; between now and the summer holidays is the peak for property sales," he added.

These comments come after the publication of data by Findaproperty.com earlier this week (March 20th 2011), which showed that the average asking price for a home across Britain has risen by 0.5 per cent throughout this month.
