Houses near schools 'good investment for landlords'

Professionals in the buy-to-let sector looking for safe investment opportunities in the wake of the recession may wish to purchase properties with schools nearby.
That is according to Paul Fletcher of the Residential Landlords Association, who has noted that houses with educational facilities in the vicinity represent a "nice long-term let".
Speaking at the recent Landlord and Letting Show in Manchester, Mr Fletcher stated that property owners may be able to give themselves some security by buying such dwellings, as families that rent a house within a school catchment area are likely to be tempted to stay there for the duration of their child's education.
Furthermore, landlords were urged to consider the area a property is located in, rather than just the abode itself.
"What are the transport links like? In a university town, that is quite important so that people can get to university quite easily. Also, parking is important," he stated.
Recently, MyVoucherCodes.co.uk revealed that 67 per cent of renters did not haggle on the monthly price they pay their landlord.
