Initiative may lead to reduction in workplace accidents
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has expressed hope that fewer employees in the UK will suffer workplace injuries thanks to a new initiative.
It has launched an online Pledge Forum, which enables firms and individuals to publicly declare that they are committed to making sure their staff, as well as customers and members of the public, do not fall victim to injuries.
A component of its Be Part of the Solution campaign, the pledge has already been signed by some of the UK's best-known organisations, the HSE claimed.
According to the body, which is currently chaired by Judith Hackitt, a total of more than 1,000 companies and individuals have become involved in the scheme.
HSE deputy chief executive Kevin Myers said: "This new community, the Pledge Forum, is a particularly exciting prospect. We hope that in time the forum will become a space where best practice in health and safety is exchanged."
