Ireland 'perfect for a cheap getaway'

Individuals looking for an ideal location for a cost-effective getaway may be well advised to consider a trip to Ireland.
John Lahiffe, publicity manager at Tourism Ireland, believes the Emerald Isle offers visitors the perfect location to enjoy value-for-money in terms of both food and accommodation.
Following the recession, an increasing number of Britons have been taking staycations as opposed to going abroad in order to save some cash, but Ireland may provide them with the ideal compromise.
Mr Lahiffe explained that the economic turmoil has "brought about a complete turnaround", with restaurants and hotels now offering top quality services for low prices.
"Accommodation in Ireland is some of the cheapest in Europe at the moment, we're told," he added.
Recently, Leo Varadkar, Irish minister for tourism, revealed the country is to inject €9 billion (£7.75 billion) into a new marketing campaign in the hope it will attract as many as 20 million people there.
