Landlords 'concerned over regulation'
Posted by Mark Cunningham
Regulation is the issue that concerns landlords the most, it has been suggested.
According to research conducted by Paragon Mortgages, six out of ten landlords are worried about the impact of legislation.
The issue came top in a list of concerns expressed by such people for 2010.
Funding property and tenant disputes were also cited as areas which may cause difficulties over the next 12 months.
"It is not surprising that regulation tops the list of landlords' concerns for the year. They already have to comply with a myriad of regulations," stated Paragon Mortgages' managing director John Heron.
The firm pointed out that people operating in the private rented sector are already affected by around 50 acts of parliament and 70 sets of regulations.
In addition, the Treasury - which is responsible for formulating and implementing the government's financial and economic policy - is consulting on whether the Financial Services Authority's remit should extend to regulate the industry.
