Landlords 'feeling confident at present'

A lot of professionals in the buy-to-let sector are seriously looking into the possibility of expanding their portfolios in the near future.

That is according to David Lawrenson, private rented sector expert at online resource Letting Focus, who believes the lack of available property for sale means conditions are still favourable for landlords at the present time.

Mr Lawrenson explained there is a high level of demand for abodes from prospective tenants finding it impossible to get on the property ladder due to issues such as the reluctance of banks and building societies to provide mortgages.

"On the whole, landlords know what they are doing and they are quite confident moving forward and the rising rents that we are seeing will only make them more so," he said.

This comes after Terrie Alafat, director of housing growth and affordable housing at Communities and Local Government, said it is an "exciting time" for the private rented sector. ADNFCR-2353-ID-801228756-ADNFCR
