Landlords 'must communicate clearly to avoid tenant disputes'

Professionals in the buy-to-let property sector must make sure they communicate clearly with outgoing tenants about the state they expect their house to be left in.
That is according to David Lawrenson, buy-to-let and private rented sector expert at online resource Letting Focus, who has urged landlords to send a copy of their inventory to tenants set to vacate a property imminently.
Mr Lawrenson explained that this is a good idea as it sets guidelines and will therefore likely avoid any disputes over deposits at a later date.
He went on to note that "unfortunately", the majority of landlords are not proactive enough when it comes to talking to their customers, which results in expectations on how a home should be left being different.
These comments came after Landlord Action revealed last week (June 23rd) that it had been asked to help an amateur landlady who is facing repossession due to a disagreement with a tenant.
