Landlords across the UK are not likely to increase the amount they are charging their tenants in rent in the near future.

That is according to Tom Entwistle, director at online resource Landlord Zone, who has said that average rental prices in Britain will probably not rise in the "next few months".

Mr Entwistle explained that the effects of the government's recent spending cuts are likely to begin to be felt in the country in the coming months, which will dissuade owners of properties from demanding increased fees from their tenants.

This comes after LSL Property Services revealed last week (January 21st 2011) that the average monthly rental charge for a home in Britain fell by 1.2 per cent in December 2010.

However, the Landlord Zone official noted that many professionals are eager to expand their portfolios in the near future, but added that there will not be a "mad rush" in the buy-to-let sector.
